Sixth formers planning to go on to higher education in September have until 29 March to apply for a bursary with professional services firm KPMG Channel Islands Limited.

KPMG awards a bursary each year to local students who have been accepted by their chosen university. The successful students need to demonstrate that they have the range of skills and abilities and possess the ambition and motivation to study towards an accountancy or tax qualification after obtaining their degree.

Debbie Smith, HR Executive Director of KPMG in the Channel Islands, said:

“For school leavers this is a very important time to begin making decisions about the future. For those who are interested in pursuing a career in accountancy or tax, KPMG has much more to offer than financial support during their university studies.

“We are deeply committed to promoting excellence and, during the paid work experience period, the bursary student will be immersed in a professional, diverse and globally connected working environment and gain an excellent grounding for their future career.

“At KPMG we are passionate about nurturing talent. We want to help prospective employees find their feet after they have graduated.”

The bursary student receives £1,500 each year to go towards the costs of books and other expenses as well as two weeks of paid work experience with the firm.

“There is no commitment to join the firm after graduation, but we feel that once students have seen the high-quality and innovative service that KPMG offers clients, along with the dedication to professional development it offers staff, they will be eager to be part of the team,” said Debbie Smith.

Students wishing to apply for the bursary must have 300 UCAS points and grade B or above in GCSE English and Maths.

Interested students should contact Dominique Aylett, HR Assistant to request an application or email daylett@kpmg.guernsey.gg. Forms can also be collected from the KPMG stand at the 2013 Careers Show, held at Beau Sejour on 20 and 21 March.
