Jersey Institute of Law names new leader

ProfJanine Griffiths-Baker - Inst of LawProfessor Janine Griffiths-Baker has been named as the new Director and Chief Executive of the Jersey Institute of Law.

Janine most recently served as Dean of Nottingham Law School at Nottingham Trent University. With over 24 years' experience in higher education, she has taught criminal law, property law, the law of evidence and legal ethics, and supervised research students in these areas. 

She has a particular interest in legal ethics and the professional regulation of the legal profession, frequently providing advice to national and international bodies on regulatory issues and training. She was appointed Professor of Law at the age of 36.

In 2015, Janine was made a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Since 2010, she has also been a member of the International Advisory Board for the Journal of Legal Ethics.

Although her appointment is from immediate affect, she will initially remain in the UK and work remotely because of the Covid-19 travel restrictions in place, and then relocate to the island as soon as practical.
