SandpiperCI expands into Isle of Man

Posted: 03/01/2017

Channel Islands retailer SandpiperCI is expanding into the Isle of Man with the acquisition of Tynwald Mills, the Isle of Man’s only department store.

The 50,000 sq ft store was established more than 30 years ago. Originally, a woollen mill producing cloth for stores such as Marks & Spencer, the mill then underwent a change of ownership and direction in the mid-seventies.

Sandpiper CEO Tony O’Neill said: “We have been looking at expanding into the Isle of Man for some time. Many of our existing franchise partners are keen to work with us in territories outside of the Channel Islands and Tynwald Mills provides the perfect platform to move our strategy forward in this location. The business is well established and works with many brands we already have relationships with.”

No redundancies are expected as a result of this announcement.
