BL55_coverIssue 55 of Businesslife - the March/April 2018 edition - is now available online.

Not for the first time, the magazine leads with Brexit. As negotiations between the UK and the EU reach the halfway point, we decided it was time to measure the temperature in the Channel Islands and to see if the potential impact of Brexit was any clearer.

Now that the media storm over the Paradise Papers has calmed down, we also take a look at the reputational damage suffered by Guernsey and Jersey, and ask if anything can be done to counter the sensationalist headlines.

The lead interview in this issue features Lydia Essa, a Director at Trust Corporation International, who gives her take on the state of play in private wealth, especially what is currently happening in Guernsey.

Nick Kirby, Editor-in-Chief of Businesslife, says: "As Brexit continues to dominate the headlines, we felt the time was right to see if sentiment in the island had shifted in any way with one year down. Needless to say, some people had very interesting opinions on the matter."

Other features in this issue include:
• A 'Bluffer's Guide' to the forthcoming General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
• The introduction of Jersey limited liability companies
• Diversity in the Channel Islands - is it achievable?
• The resurgence of alternative assets
• Why businesses should write in plain English
• And much more…
