After a sell-out programme in 2011 and 2012, Jersey International Business School are delighted to present the third series of The Club (N)ED programme for Executive and Non-Executive Directors which will begin in October.

The programme is an exclusive series of director-specific training and networking events which offer invaluable insight and advice. It also provides attendees with an opportunity to discuss relevant matters with an experienced peer group.

Delivered by top industry speakers, the series comprises 8 training/networking events between October 2013 and May 2014 totalling 17 hours CPD. This is an effective way to achieve essential CPD whilst bringing knowledge and skills up-to-date for directors' own protection, also helping to ensure that Jersey retains its premier offshore status by having the right skill-set in place.

The first session will include a special lunch and presentation at Longueville Manor with Rick Parry (pictured), Former Chief Executive of the FA Premier League and Liverpool FC, who will be discussing “the challenges of being CEO for a major international football club”

Rick spent five years working on Manchester's bids for the Olympic Games and in 1990 was approached by The Football Association to explore the feasibility of establishing a new top level league. After six months he was invited to become The FA Premier League's first Chief Executive and remained in that role until 1997. Rick then left to join Liverpool FC, the club he had always supported, and became Chief Executive in 2000. In his nine years in charge the club won ten trophies, including the UEFA Champions League in a memorable final in 2005.

Chris Usher, Commercial Director and Senior Lecturer comments:
“Club (N)ED provides exceptional value once again as we have maintained the 2012 price of £545. Each session includes a relevant, topical and insightful presentation lasting 50 minutes followed by the opportunity to participate in a Q&A session and the chance to network afterwards with drinks and nibbles. We are particularly excited about hosting a wide range of speakers from a variety of backgrounds. It's imperative Directors and Non-Executives have a broad range of skills they are able to utilise in the discharge of their responsibilities."

Other speakers in the programme include:

Richard Smerdon - Executive editor of the Wolters Kluwer publication ‘Corporate Governance Handbook' - “Learning from failures in corporate governance through case studies”

Tom Hill - CEO, UBS - “Does the existence of a CSR programme signify a socially responsible company?”

Clive Jones - Chairman, Jersey Financial Services Commission - “Developing the Jersey regulatory approach in an ever changing environment”

Ruth Martin - Managing Director, Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment - “Integrity and the drive to improve culture in financial services”

Sandro Boeri - Owner, Risk Audit - “Lessons on Corporate Governance Failings in the UK”

Christopher Journeaux - MCIM DipM Chartered Marketer - “Harnessing the benefits of modern marketing for your FSB”

Gareth Rees QC - Executive Counsel, Professional Discipline, Financial Reporting Council - “Holding auditors and accountants to account”
