IFLR ranks Carey Olsen in top tier

Carey Olsen's position as a leading law firm for corporate and finance and investment funds work in Guernsey has been reaffirmed in the IFLR1000's guide to the world's leading financial law firms.

The “very international” law firm's Guernsey office has maintained its tier one rankings for the third year in the two categories covered by the guide: ‘financial and corporate' and ‘investment funds'. In addition, Graham Hall (pictured), head of the corporate group in Guernsey, has been recognised as a leading lawyer in the two categories.

According to the publication ‘peers agree that Carey Olsen is "certainly the leading firm" when it comes to investment funds' work in Guernsey. The publication cites the firm's involvement in private equity funds and clean energy funds in particular. In the corporate and finance category, IFLR 1000 noted the firm's expertise in acquisitions and its “universal approval from the market.”

Carey Olsen's top deals during the period under review, that are cited in the guide, include the acquisition of Indian Energy by Infrastructure India and advising BetFred on its acquisition of The Tote which “changed the face of the British betting industry.”

IFLR is a publication that covers legal developments in the banking and corporate sectors. Its annual IFLR1000 guide provides rankings and analysis of the best financial law firms operating in more than 100 markets worldwide. The guide is based on an extensive independent research process which includes questionnaires and interviews with the featured firms, competitors and clients. The research process takes into account recent legal trends, the complexity of deals, innovation, quality of service and cross-border capability of featured firms.
