Dr Elaine Monkhouse Appointed Interim Chief Executive of The GTA University Centre

The Board of the GTA University Centre is very pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Elaine Monkhouse (pictured) to the position of Interim Chief Executive which she will commence, on a part time basis, on 2 September.

The purpose of the interim role is to ensure the continuation of our provision of high quality training and post graduate education while at the same time working to support the broader aims of the Education Vision. It is imperative that the work of the GTA is closely aligned with the work of Education and the skills strategy initiative, at this time and going forward, as the next phases of these important projects are progressed.

Dr Monkhouse, who will continue with her role as chair of the Skills Guernsey Implementation Group said, “I am delighted to have the opportunity to take up this role and I am very excited about the GTA's future. My work with Skills Guernsey clearly is complementary to that of the GTA, and I believe I will be able to help to ensure a joined up approach”.

The GTA board expects there to be more clarity on the future direction of the GTA in due course - once the implementation phase of the Education vision and skills strategy is further advanced. At that time the intention will be to make longer-term staff appointments that will be appropriate to the role that the GTA will play in the coming years and relevant to wider educational development and training delivery throughout the Bailiwick.

The fact that Elaine will continue with her work with Skills Guernsey, which clearly is aligned with that of the GTA, will help to ensure a joined up approach.
