Posted: 20/02/2018

Offshore law firm Carey Olsen has advised SoftBank Group Corporation and its Vision Fund on the $865 million investment into construction technology startup Katerra.

SoftBank Vision Fund, a Jersey regulated structure, raised $93bn in committed capital last year and has made several technology-focused investments since it launched.

According to Michael Marks, Chairman and Co-founder of Katerra, the fund's investment has put Katerra's valuation at more than $3bn.

The construction company, which builds houses and commercial buildings using an assembly-line system to control every aspect of the design and construction process, has $1.3bn in the pipeline for new projects, he adds.

Carey Olsen Partner Nick Bullmore, Counsel Dylan Wiltermuth and Associate Robert Coombes advised SoftBank on the Cayman Islands aspects of the Katerra investment.
