Increased regulation since the financial crisis has led to more regulatory reporting and a larger compliance burden, which in turn leads to the need for larger teams. And all of this has to be paid for.
Nick Kirby, Editor-in-Chief of BL magazine, says: “Since the magazine began in 2009, there seems to have been one raft of regulation after another, increasing company costs significantly. It’s not surprising that some smaller firms have been swallowed up by larger ones.
“The Channel Islands have an outstanding reputation as international finance centres, but they’re also seen by some to be expensive. So how do they meet this regulatory burden without imposing higher costs on clients? Our lead article addresses this thorny subject.”
