Matt Palmer to lead Jersey cyber response team

Posted: 24/06/2021

MattPalmer_Jersey_jun21The Government of Jersey has appointed Matt Palmer as Director of its new Cyber Emergency Response Team (CERT).

In this role, Matt, who also became a JFSC Commissioner in 2020, will be responsible for helping businesses across the island put appropriate security controls in place and mitigate against network outages, data loss, ransomware, cybercrime, and state threats.

Matt's career has also included six years with Skipton Building Society, latterly as Group Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), and similar roles with State Street and Brevan Howard.

He has also served on the boards of Willis Towers Watson, Cyberclaria, Risk Ledger and Appital, and more recently as Interim CISO at Aztec Group in Jersey.

JFSC Chair Mark Hoban commented: “Matt’s appointment as hugely complementary to the work we undertake in relation to cyber security. The establishment of CERT coincides with our increased focus on cyber risk – both our own and that of Jersey’s financial services industry.”
