JFSC appoints two to supervisory team

Farooq Naeem_JFSC_nov21The Jersey Financial Services Commission has announced two senior appointments – Farooq Naeem as Director of Supervisory Strategy and Oversight, and Sally Rochester as Interim Executive Director of Supervision.

Farooq will be responsible for the authorisations, examinations and pooled supervision teams within the supervision division.

He brings to the role broad corporate governance experience, particularly in establishing compliance culture, strategic planning and regulatory supervision.

Farooq has worked in financial services for more than 21 years, the past 11 with international regulators in the UK and the Middle East.

He has spent the past six years with the Dubai Financial Services Authority and before that the Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority.

Sally Rochester JFSC_nov21Prior to that, Farooq worked in London for the Financial Services Authority (now the Financial Conduct Authority), following auditing and consultancy roles with Pershing (a BNY Mellon company), Deloitte and the Audit Commission.

In her new interim role, Sally will be responsible for overseeing the regulation of Jersey’s financial services and the supervision of other sectors for anti-money laundering and terrorist financing.

Sally comes to the Commission having served as a Director at Deloitte in Guernsey for the past two years, supporting Crown Dependencies and Gibraltar clients and regulators with risk and regulatory services.

She joined Deloitte as a Senior Manager in 2013, having previously worked for Standard Bank Offshore in Jersey and KPMG in London and the Virgin Islands.
