IoD Jersey hosts digital innovation event

Posted: 16/06/2021

IoD Jersey’s Technology Sub-Committee is holding a breakfast event in July – Digital innovation in a post-pandemic world – which aims to provide real-life examples of the increased pace of digital adoption over the past year.

Highlighting a survey by McKinsey, How Covid-19 has pushed companies over the technology tipping point – and transformed business forever, the IoD commented: "The survey of global executives showed that companies accelerated the digitisation of their customer and supply chain interactions and their internal operations by three to four years, but the share of digital or digitally enabled products in their portfolios accelerated by seven years.

"As consumers, we know that to be able to access services and products during the pandemic lockdowns necessitated going digital, and businesses that didn’t embrace this suffered.

"Remote working forced companies to find new ways of managing their staff and workflows. It showed those who were reluctant to digitise that the barriers they perceived in doing so were not there or at least were not insurmountable.

"In addition, it has allowed directors to innovate and improve their processes and ultimately bottom lines."

The IoD panel will be chaired by Ian Webb, Chair of the IoD Jersey Technology Sub-Committee, and includes:
• Daragh McDermott, Managing Director, JT Channel Islands
• Becky Houze, dairy farmer and educational blogger
• Pam Aubert, Centre Manager, Macmillan Cancer Support Jersey
• Stuart Geddes, IT Director, Ocorian

The event takes place on 8 July from 7.45am to 9am at the Royal Yacht Hotel & Spa. For further information and to book a place click here
