Stephanie Liston_JCRA_jul20The Jersey Competition Regulatory Authority has published its annual report and accounts for the year ended 31 December 2020.

The report covers a significant year for the JCRA that included its demerger from CICRA and the ongoing pandemic.

It addresses the period during which the Authority was part of CICRA and following the Authority's formal separation from CICRA on 30 June last year.

During 2020, the JCRA assembled a new board, appointed senior executive officers and managed a case load that included investigating the failure of Jersey's emergency call services on several occasions, resulting in substantial fines for two of the island's licensed telecoms operators.

Stephanie Liston (pictured), who was appointed Chair of the Authority during the year, said: "The past 12 months have presented significant challenges for Jersey, and particularly the sectors we regulate. The Authority has worked with government and initiated early engagement with all our stakeholders."

Tim Ringsdore, Chief Executive Officer, added: "We have built a new team and adapted to new ways of working. The recent publication of our Prioritisation Principles demonstrates a flexible and pragmatic approach to managing our caseload, so that we continue to deliver an efficient, effective service for our stakeholders."
