Collas Crill
Collas Crill partner and corporate governance expert Ian Kirk will chair a debate on the new Guernsey Code of Corporate Governance at the ICSA Channel Islands Governance Conference 2012.

The new half-day conference, on Wednesday 30 May at St Pierre Park Hotel in Guernsey, is a cross-Channel Island event.

Company secretaries, in-house lawyers, corporate governance and compliance professionals and advisors to Channel Islands companies and investors will examine the benefits of good governance to businesses across the Channel Islands, with particular reference to decision-making, the management of risk, transparency and reputation.

Good corporate governance has always been the backbone of good business practice, but high profile corporate failures have meant increased focus on the application, implementation and regulation of good corporate governance principles. This conference focuses on what governance means to businesses in Guernsey and Jersey.

Ian Kirk, an acknowledged expert on company law and corporate governance, will chair the panel session Cracking the Code focusing on the new Guernsey Code of Corporate Governance for the financial sector, which came into effect in January this year.

Alongside Emma Bailey, Deputy Director of the Guernsey Financial Services Commission, and Anne Ewing, Chairman of the Institute of Directors Guernsey, he will consider what the Code contains, why it has been published, and what it means for businesses in Guernsey.
