Obsidian team mar21Fund administration business Obsidian Fund Services has been launched in Guernsey.

Having gained regulatory approval from the GFSC in February, Obsidian aims to combine bespoke client service and the latest technology and practices to provide environmental, social and governance reporting and monitoring solutions for clients.

Leading the new firm is Managing Director Jody Newark, whose funds experience spans 20 years. Before founding Obsidian, she spent a year as Chief Operating Officer at Freedom Asset Management, following almost 10 years with Eric Sturdza Investments, latterly as Executive Director.

Jody's team includes Director Danny Fox and Associate Director Kelson Seepaul. They are supported by Non-Executive Directors Andy Sloan, Deputy Chief Executive, Strategy, at Guernsey Finance, and Richard Taylor, Head of Trading for Eric Sturdza Investments.

Jody commented:"After 20 years in the industry I took a frank look around and was not happy with the commitment to service and quality generally across the sector.

"Obsidian is my response, created to meet a market need for boutique, high-quality administration services catering to sophisticated global clients, specialist managers, and family offices."
