JFSC to hold Brexit legislative changes webinar

Posted: 22/02/2021

The Jersey Financial Services Commission has announced that it will be holding a webinar on the recent legislative changes following Brexit.

The event, Sanctions – recent legislative changes, will be held on Wednesday 3 March from 2pm to 3pm.

Participants will hear from JFSC International and Industry Engagement Co-ordinator Caroline Morgan and the Government of Jersey’s Head of International Compliance, Ministry for External Relations, Dan Marcos.

On 1 January, as part of Brexit, the UK stopped implementing EU sanctions regulations and introduced new UK sanctions legislation under its Sanctions and Anti-Money Laundering Act 2018.

To ensure that Jersey remains aligned with the UK on sanctions, the Sanctions and Asset-Freezing (Implementation of External Sanctions) (Jersey) Order 2021 came into force on 12 February, implementing United Nations Security Council sanctions and autonomous UK sanctions by giving effect to the relevant UK legislation.

Jersey no longer implements autonomous EU sanctions regimes, but continues to implement all UN, UK, and EU terrorist asset-freeze designations.

The webinar will cover:
• What has changed
• Wat remains unchanged
• What is required of industry
