The winners of the Jersey Institute of Directors 2021 Director of the Year Awards have been announced.
The awards celebrate strong leadership across the private, public and third sectors of Jersey. An expanded 10 categories were opened to nominations for individuals who have led their organisations through this unprecedented year.
The winners were:
• Director of the Year, Large Business – Mark Cox (pictured), CEO, The Channel Islands Co-operative Society
• Director of the Year, SME Business – Dan Hare, Founder, MD, Continuum
• Director of the Year, Family Business – Gavin Reid, MD, Randalls
• Director of the Year, Public Sector – Rebecca Sherrington, Head of Vaccination Programme, Government of Jersey
• Director of the Year, Third Sector – Ruth Brunton, CEO, Brighter Futures
• Young Director of the Year – Lee Bosio, MD, Vaiie
• Director of the Year, Start-up – Michelle Ryan (pictured), Commercial Director, True
• Non-Executive Director of the Year – Phil Male, Chairman, JT Group
• Director of the Year, Sustainability – Thomas Noel, Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability, JT Group
• Director of the Year, Diversity & Inclusion – Heather MacCallum, Co-Chair, The Jersey Community Foundation
IoD Jersey Chair Lisa Springate also presented three special Chair’s Awards to:
• Tony Moretta, CEO, Digital Jersey
• Simon Soar, CEO, Jersey Hospitality Association
• Graeme Smith, CEO, Jersey Business
She said: “The Chair usually only presents one discretionary award, but the last 18 months have seen unprecedented challenges. All three of our recipients have demonstrated real leadership, helping to navigate their organisations and communities through the most difficult trading conditions in living memory. They have inspired and led from the top, displaying the values, vision, and determination the IoD holds so highly.”
