The Institute of Law Jersey has appointed Miceál Barden as Chief Executive Officer and Dean. He will take up the post from 14 February.
Miceál comes to the Institute from his current role as Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Business and Social Sciences at the University of Wolverhampton, where he has direct oversight of the Business and Law Schools among other departments.
Before this, he spent seven years as Head of Manchester Law School at Manchester Metropolitan University.
A Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Miceál has more than 30 years of experience in higher education and has taught law at undergraduate and postgraduate levels at six different universities in the United Kingdom.
Following early experience as a researcher with the Human Rights Commission in Northern Ireland and the Law Commission for England and Wales, Miceál taught law. He has considerable experience in curriculum development and validation of law programmes as well as being an experienced external examiner.
