Two trainees at Channel Islands law firm Collas Crill have qualified as solicitors in England and Wales.

Alex Wickens and Nin Ritchie are being admitted to the roll of solicitors of England and Wales on 1 June 2012.

Collas Crill is accredited by the Solicitors' Regulation Authority to provide training contracts for trainee solicitors. Supported by senior lawyers, trainees undertake placements within different departments at the firm as well as, for some, a secondment to a top flight London law firm.

Alex Wickens joined Collas Crill in September 2006 working within its wholly owned subsidiary Guernsey Trust Company, undertaking company formations. He quickly moved across to the law firm's Commercial team where he began studying a graduate diploma in law (GDL) and then the legal practice course (LPC) by distance learning. During his time as a trainee Alex has worked in Collas Crill's Commercial, Dispute Resolution and Fiduciary departments and is now member of the Commercial team.

Nin Ritchie joined the firm in September 2010 having completed her law degree and LPC by distance learning while working at the Guernsey Financial Services Commission. Nin has worked in Collas Crill's Commercial and Dispute Resolution teams and has undertaken a successful secondment at London law firm SJ Berwin. Nin will remain in Collas Crill's Dispute Resolution team.

Collas Crill's managing partner Jason Romer said: "In addition to the academic side, we expect our trainees to display the same qualities as anyone we recruit - a willingness to work hard and be a good team player. It's also important to display a creative and commercially focused mind. I am delighted that, having proven themselves in their training contracts, Alex and Nin now join us as qualified solicitors."
