Collas Crill feature in CI Property TV

Collas Crill have joined forces with Swoffers to produce the Channel Islands' first ever dedicated online property news programme.

In the first edition, Collas Crill's head of property, partner Jason Green, warns buyers to beware of reduced quality of services that may now be offered by some conveyancers in Guernsey now that the island has abolished the fixed tariff charge made on transactions.

He says that although the tariff changes are potentially good news for buyers because lawyers must now charge more competitive rates to gain business, there is a concern that this could lead to a decrease in the quality of service in order to save on costs.

"Quality of service is paramount in a property transaction," he said. " This is the biggest purchase of your life and you don't want to find, when you come to sell the property in the future, that there are boundary problems or other issues you weren't previously aware of."

Launched last week, Swoffers TV is a new monthly programme featuring the latest news aimed at people buying and selling properties in Guernsey. Features include developments, law changes and how to avoid common mistakes.
