Collas Crill's growing strength in employment law is recognised in the new edition of Chambers Europe.

The Channel Islands law firm is challenging Jersey's biggest employment law practices as the only band 2 firm listed and with plaudits from Chambers for its ' truly comprehensive service, representing employees and employers on a range of contentious and non-contentious issues'.

Moving up the ranks just 12 months after its merger, Chambers Europe 2013 says: "This firm gains increasing recognition for its employment practice thanks to an active year.

"Among its recent highlights the team advised Allied Irish Banks on the employment issues arising out of the sale of the bank's shares in AIB Jersey Trust and the subsequent transfer of employees. It also represented Barchester Healthcare in a range of employment disputes. The team has a notable pensions practice, recently advising Guernsey Trust Company on the establishment of a pan-island retirement annuity trust."

Sources say: “The team is proactive and intuitively understands our business” and “Just marvellous. I really trust the team and feel it constantly works in my best interests.”

Partner Paul Wilson is named as a key individual. He heads the Employment team in Jersey and has particular expertise on advisory mandates. Chambers Europe 2013 notes that sources regard him as a “methodical and commercially sensible lawyer who always delivers”.

Chambers Europe 2013 says that the full-service property practice at Collas Crill has strengthened its Jersey commercial practice, with sources noting its growing presence on transactions. It covers the whole range of residential and commercial matters and has recently been busy acting on planning, development and financing mandates.

Chambers' research includes client interviews. Clients in both Channel Islands have been positive about the merger which created Collas Crill in April 2011. The directory says: "Clients are extremely enthusiastic about the firm's recent merger with Guernsey firm Collas Day, citing the improved strength and increased reach it has given the property practice."

Elsewhere in the leading legal directory, Collas Crill's joint senior partner in Guernsey, Chris Bound, is recognised as a heavyweight in the Island's property sector. Rising to the top tier in individual rankings, Chris is noted as a "a key figure in the department and is greatly admired for his vast experience and commercial approach".

Collas Crill was also shortlisted in the Offshore category of the Chambers Europe Awards for Excellence 2012.
