Rose Colley_Viberts_sep20The Law Society of Jersey, the statutory regulatory body for Advocates and Solicitors of the Royal Court, has appointed Advocate Rose Colley as its President, succeeding Advocate John Kelleher.

Taking on the role for the next two years, Rose becomes the first female president to be elected by members of the Law Society since it was established in 1899.

She has served as a Partner in Viberts since 2000 and leads the firm's family law team. She was sworn in as an English Solicitor in London in 1980 and as a Jersey Advocate in 2000. She spent three years as Head of Private Client and Litigation at Mourant Ozannes in Jersey before joining Viberts.

Rose commented: “When I was sworn in as an English Solicitor, there were very few women in the profession and even fewer managed to break the glass ceiling. I am very thankful for the opportunities I have been given since that have enabled me to now serve the profession in Jersey as their President.”
