To cater for the increased interest that Vantage Limited (“Vantage”) is receiving for its captive management services in Jersey, the company have made a major recruitment in its Insurance Management division. Giles Dalby (pictured) has joined as Captive Insurance Manager.
Vantage are Jersey's first specialist insurance manager and have been working to develop international insurance business in the Island. Captive insurance vehicles have, for many years, provided an alternative to the traditional insurance market, but Jersey has not previously promoted its insurance management capabilities. Vantage have been marketing both their services, and the Island as an insurance jurisdiction, as a whole, and are generating a surge of interest in Jersey based captives - both from local professional service providers (such as trust companies and legal firms) and also from outside the Island.
Giles, who was born and educated in Leeds, began his insurance career with Norwich Union and held various underwriting roles within the company's UK offices. He moved to Jersey in 2001 as Senior Underwriter and subsequently become local branch manager following the rebranding of Norwich Union to Aviva. Giles has a wide ranging experience of underwriting commercial insurance classes, including property, casualty and motor fleet business. Giles holds an MBA.
Richard Packman, Managing Director at Vantage, and Chairman of the Jersey International Insurance Association, commented on the appointment:
