Senior States adviser Colin Powell CBE – widely regarded as the architect of the financial services scene in Jersey – has passed away, the Jersey Evening Post has reported.
Colin Powell was appointed as an Economic Adviser to the States of Jersey in 1969 after working for five years in a similar role in Northern Ireland. He later became Chief Adviser to the States and has played a leading role in advising on local and international financial matters.
He also chaired the Jersey Financial Services Commission from its foundation in 1999 to September 2009.
