Ogier advises on Jersey Evening Post relocation

Posted: 28/11/2019

Ogier’s property law team has been working on the relocation of the Jersey Evening Post from Five Oaks to the centre of St Helier.

The team included Partner Jonathan Hughes, Counsel Katharine Marshall and Senior Associate Sarah Parish. They formalised the contract of assignment of the unexpired term of a lease of the new premises at Le Gallais Chambers, Bath Street, which included liaising with the landlord’s lawyers and the outgoing tenant’s lawyers.

Mark Oliver, Finance Director of Jersey Evening Post, said: "The move was the culmination of months of planning. It was a huge team push while also having to focus on publishing a daily newspaper six days a week. Pressing pause is not an option in our industry."

Katharine Marshall has also been appointed to lead the legal team, alongside Senior Conveyancer Tim Bechelet, on the sale of the paper's previous site at Five Oaks, once a buyer is identified and terms agreed.
