Leading Jersey law firm, Appleby, has today announced the appointment of John Webster (pictured) who has joined the firm as an Associate in the Commercial Property Team. The new appointment marks an exciting start to the year for Appleby who have shown continued commitment to investment in their market-leading property team. Mr Webster will serve the group's commercial client base, drawing on his background in commercial property and planning law and providing support to Appleby's dedicated property partners Tim Hart, John Bisson and Andrew Pim. Commenting on the news, Tim Hart, who leads the Global Property Team at Appleby, said: “John's appointment is an important part of our plans for 2013. His experience in planning and environment and commercial property law will add depth to what is already a strong team. Our goal is to ensure we are equipped to respond to the changing needs of our clients in this challenging economic environment and I am delighted to welcome John as the latest member of the team.” Mr Webster joins the team from Burges Salmon where he was an Associate specializing in disputes, environment and planning. John began his career as a Solicitor for Wiltshire Council before moving to Eversheds Real Estate Practice Group. He then worked as Planning and Contracts Solicitor for South Staffordshire Council and Malvern Hills District Council before taking the role at Burges Salmon. Commenting on his move to Appleby, John says: ‘I welcome the opportunity to be working as part of a team that has such commitment to its commercial property clients and look forward to the challenges this brings.' John Webster is currently a postgraduate student of Planning Law at Bristol University. A specialist in planning, Mr Webster's dissertation has been published in the ‘Journal of Planning Law' and John has also written articles for publications including ‘The Lawyer'.
