New legislation has been introduced in Jersey, which states that if a member of staff has been continuously employed for more than 15 months, they can make a flexible working application.
The new legislation also states that an employee will no longer be penalised if they work fewer than eight hours a week.
These are just two areas covered by broad ranging employment legislation that took effect from 1 September 2015.
Law At Work – a human resources, employee relations and health and safety specialist in Jersey – is offering a free online clinic on Wednesday 14 October for employers who may be affected by the changes and want to know more.
The company expects the clinic to cover a range of subjects including how to manage employees and their requests correctly, and how these changes affect those working on a voluntary or part time basis.
Stephanie Costford, Law At Work’s Human Resources Business Manager, said: "We want to give clarification on the changes and help employers understand the implications."
The clinic will be held between 10.30am and 11.30am on Wednesday 14 October. Anyone can pose a question using the hashtag #asklaw either on Facebook, Twitter or Linkedin. Alternatively, they can ask a question in advance by emailing enquiry@lawatworkci.com, and the answer will be posted during the session.
