The Jersey Chamber of Commerce is holding a second half-day briefing event to give an overview of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which comes into force in May 2018, affecting every business in Jersey.
Any business that holds data about individuals will be subject to GDPR legislation, and fines for non-compliance could be costly.
Following a sold-out March briefing, the next event will be held on Thursday 4 May from 08:30am to midday at the Pomme D'Or. Delegates will hear from:
• Emma Martins, Information Commissioner Jersey/Data Protection Commissioner Guernsey – what GDPR involves and the critical timeline between now and May 2018
• Phil Ruelle, Chief Digital Officer at BDO – key areas where businesses must act to ensure compliance, with examples of how current processes may not conform and might be improved
• Richard Sheldon, Counsel, Dispute Resolution Team, Appleby – overview of GDPR from a legal standpoint
