Jersey Business to hold online security workshop

Jersey Business is running a workshop on 14 March to help SMEs on the island tighten up online security.

The session – entitled 5 easy & practical steps for SME online security – will offer guidance on:
• Securing your internet connection
• Securing your devices and software
• Controlling access to your data and services
• Protection from viruses and other malware
• Keeping your devices and software up to date

Practical examples will be given on programming a router; managing anti-virus software; updating Mac and Windows software; and managing passwords, including establishing processes to ensure robust procedures are in place.

The session will be presented by David Cartwright, who leads the information security practice for Grant Thornton in the Channel Islands. He is also Chairman of the Jersey branch of the British Computer Society and Vice Chairman of the Channel Islands Information Security Forum.
