IoD event to question whether Guernsey is attractive to new opportunities

Posted: 23/03/2017

The IoD’s 2017 mid-term breakfast event next month – Is Guernsey Presenting its Best Face? – will pick up on some of the themes arising from the IoD annual Convention last October.

A panel representing the Guernsey business community will discuss whether Guernsey is presenting itself adequately to the outside world.

IoD Chair Linda Johnson said: “There was so much positivity around our Convention in 2016 and we want to build on that while also challenging ourselves to take a good hard look in the mirror and ask what our USP is and just how attractive Guernsey is to new opportunities?

“Can we make a virtue out of discretion in this transparent era? How are we viewed externally and what are our competitors doing? Are we a wallflower by comparison?”

The moderator for the mid-term event will be Guernsey Press Business Editor James Falla, who will quiz the panellists on their views and open up the discussion to the audience.

Panellists will include:
• Simon Davies, Founder, fintech transformation consultancy the 1882 Group
• John Clacy, Partner, Deloitte
• Meriel Lenfestey, Non-Executive Director
• Andrew Chantrell, General Manager, Old Government House Hotel
• Tom Carey, Partner, Carey Olsen

The event will take place on Wednesday 5 April at St James with registration from 7.45am and a finish time of 9.45am. Tickets cost from £15, including breakfast, and can be booked via Eventbrite by clicking here
