ICSA: The Chartered Governance Institute has elected Teresa Le Couteur, Group Company Secretary for Northern Trust Guernsey, as Chair of the Institute’s Guernsey Branch.
Teresa succeeds Paul Smith, who chaired the branch from May 2019 until December 2020, having been Vice Chair since Jan 2016.
Teresa is a Chartered Secretary with more than 20 years’ experience in the finance industry. She has extensive knowledge of offshore funds, trusts, company secretarial work, compliance and corporate governance, working with firms in Guernsey and Jersey such as Ipes, Standard Bank, Mourant and Crestbridge.
Teresa also has experience managing client entities across various other jurisdictions, including the British Virgin Islands, Cayman, Cyprus, Delaware, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and the UK.
She commented: “In my term of office, I look forward to refreshing our approach to connect with colleagues, students and the wider audience through more varied and accessible methods.
"2020 presented most of us with numerous challenges, but it also provided unprecedented opportunities, such as different ways to approach our work/life balance.
"This means how good governance looks and feels will evolve, and the Guernsey Branch will be available to provide guidance and support where possible. Our recently established Technical Sub-Committee is just one example of the ways in which we can help."
