Guernsey Investment Funds Association elects a new Chairman

Andrew WhittakerThe Guernsey Investment Funds Association (GIFA) has elected Andrew Whittaker as GIFA Chairman following the recent Annual General Meeting.

Andrew (pictured), who is Managing Director for Ipes Guernsey, will hold the position for two years. Paul Smith from JTC has been appointed to the position of Vice Chairman.

Andrew has been a member of the GIFA Executive Committee for the past 12 months and has played a key role on behalf of the Funds industry in lobbying key influencers in the UK and Europe on a number of issues. He has worked with the States and the Guernsey Financial Services Commission (GFSC) on a number of regulatory topics including AIFMD, FATCA and OECD Tax Transparency to develop policy.

Andrew will also continue as Chair of the British Venture Capital Association (BVCA) Channel Island Working Group which was formed last year to encourage a BVCA presence in Guernsey.

Joining Andrew Whittaker and Paul Smith on the Executive Committee will be Tony Mancini from KPMG as Treasurer and Brian Horsepool from Active Group as Secretary. The remaining elected Committee members are Ben Morgan (Carey Olsen), Paul Wilkes (Collas Crill), Gavin Farrell (Mourant Ozannes), Christopher Jehan (Investec), Joe Truelove (Carey Group) and Mel Torode (Morgan Sharpe).
