Guernsey Data Conference to highlight big data opportunities

Startup Guernsey has announced an event on 9 October – Guernsey Data Conference 1.0 – that will consider how Guernsey can exploit the economic benefits of big data.

Keynote speaker William Mason, Director General of the Guernsey Financial Services Commission, will discuss big data and the paradox of regulation and freedom.

Other confirmed speakers include:

• Colin Vaudin, Chief Information Officer, States of Guernsey
• Emma Martins, Data Protection Commissioner for Guernsey

• Jon Barclay, Partner, Bedell Cristin 
• Steve Billinghurst, Director, PwC

Topics under discussion include blockchain, eGov, digital identity, data protection and data law. The conference will also aim to provide a greater level of understanding around big data for local businesses.
