Elaine_Gray_COThe Guernsey Chamber of Commerce has elected Elaine Gray as President, the first woman to hold the post in the organisation’s 212-year history. She replaces Barrie Baxter, who had held the position since 2018.

A Partner at Carey Olsen, Elaine leads the firm's Guernsey dispute resolution and litigation team. She has served as Vice-President of the Chamber of Commerce for the past year.

She commented: "Chamber continues to play an incredibly important role in Guernsey, representing businesses across all industries and sectors in relation to the latest issues and opportunities affecting them.

"No challenge is more pressing than Guernsey’s ongoing response and recovery to the global coronavirus pandemic, so we look forward to representing members in our work with government on Guernsey’s Revive and Thrive strategy."

With almost 700 members employing around 18,000 staff, the Chamber supports local businesses ranging from sole traders to international corporations. Its new-look executive also includes:
• Treasurer Graham Rabey (Head of Finance, BWCI)
• Members Claire Carre (Head of Credit and Lending Services, Investec), Jane St Pier (Guernsey Community Foundation) and Diane de Garis (MD, de Garis Accounting)
• Industry Heads Representative Rupert Dorey (Director, Cinven)
