Following discussions with Digital Jersey and the Government of Jersey, telecoms operators on the island – JT, Sure and Homenet – have agreed that all fibre broadband connections will be increased to a symmetrical 1 Gbit/s at no extra cost.
The move will, among other things, assist the significant increase in home-working and home-isolating as islanders adapt to the measures being put in place to contain the spread of Covid-19.
The work to increase the speeds will take place over the course of the next two weeks, at which point all fibre broadband users will benefit from 1 Gbit/s symmetrical speeds (1 Gbit/s upload and 1 Gbit/s download).
Tariffs paid by broadband subscribers will not change – an arrangement that will last for as long as the Covid-19 measures remain in place unless otherwise agreed by all parties.
