EY ITEM Club to present winter forecast

Posted: 12/01/2016

EY is holding a presentation in both Jersey and Guernsey which will expand on the key themes and outcomes of the ITEM Club winter forecast, which is due to be published on Monday 18 January.

EY's presentations will take places as follows:
• Guernsey - 12.30pm, Monday 18 January – Old Government House Hotel, St Peter Port
• Jersey – 12.30pm, Tuesday 19 January – Pomme d'Or Hotel, St Helier

EY’s Senior Economic Advisor from ITEM Club, Martin Beck, will present the key themes from the ITEM Club’s winter forecast and discuss how they are relevant to the Channel Islands and their neighbouring countries.

Beck has been Lead UK Economist at Oxford Economics since March 2014. He was previously at Capital Economics, where he worked on Capital’s UK macro and UK consumer services. He was responsible for producing UK macroeconomic analysis and forecasts on a national, sectoral and industry level. Before joining Capital, Martin was an economist in HM Treasury where he worked in a variety of macroeconomic, microeconomic and policy roles.

The Guernsey event will be hosted by local EY Partner Michael Bane, while the Jersey event will be hosted by EY Channel Islands Managing Partner, Andrew Dann.

The ITEM Club is the only non-governmental economic forecasting group to use HM Treasury’s model of the UK economy. Its forecasts are independent of any political, economic or business bias, providing an impartial benchmark for other private and public economic forecasts.
