Tax transparency and disclosure specialist Giovanni Canton has joined EY’s Channel Islands tax team as a Senior Manager.
Giovanni has extensive experience of helping financial services firms comply with changing tax transparency and disclosure rules. He has supported clients with the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), Common Reporting Standard (CRS) and country-by-country reporting (CbC).
Originally from Italy, Giovanni has over 10 years’ tax experience working in Verona and Milan, most recently for PwC as a Tax Manager.
During this time he assisted clients with the implementation of CRS compliance programmes, the preparation of their FATCA and CRS reports and the submission of CbC reporting. As well as providing technical advice he has provided training workshops and spoken at various conferences on tax transparency.
In his new role Giovanni will assist clients with the ongoing implementation and management of their automatic exchange of information (AEOI) and wider disclosure programmes.
