Equiom Marine and Aviation Services (Jersey) Limited (EMAS) is delighted to announce that the company recently passed the Lloyds Inspection for Seafarer Recruitment and Placement.

The inspection, which is undertaken by an external agency, Lloyd's Register, evaluates compliance to relevant maritime legislation as laid down by the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC), 2006. In this instance, Equiom were required to demonstrate compliance to Regulation 1.4 of the MLC. This regulation focuses on ensuring that seafarers have access to efficient and well-regulated seafarer recruitment and placement services, therefore aspects of crew and vessel information as well as control and verification procedures formed part of the inspection undertaken.

Scott Le Cornu (pictured), EMAS Manager commented: “Over the last 12 months we have worked with all Flag States, owners and vessel managers to ensure that the system we implemented for recruitment and placement services was not only compliant to the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006, but workable for each stakeholder. We are therefore extremely pleased and proud to have passed the inspection.”

“In addition to passing the inspection we have also been certified by the States of Jersey. Verification of our compliance to the MLC together with the certification by our Member State, Jersey, not only demonstrates Equiom's ongoing commitment to the adherence of marine and aviation legislation, but is also essential to the niche employment services we offer to our vessel owners and operators.”

Equiom Marine and Aviation Services (Jersey) Limited provides efficient and compliant crew employment solutions and payroll operations for vessel owners and operators around the world.
