Digital asset custody business Komainu – a joint venture between Japanese investment bank Nomura and crypto specialists Ledger and CoinShares – has been launched in Jersey.
Komainu, which is regulated by the Jersey Financial Services Commission, acts as a custodian and provides regulatory compliance and insurance services to institutional investors for their digital asset holdings.
The CEO of the new venture is the Jersey-based CEO of CoinShares, Jean-Marie Mognetti.
Mognetti told news service CoinDesk: “Komainu has created the first turnkey solution that establishes the trust required by institutions to gain exposure to digital assets."
Samsung-backed crypto assets security firm Ledger is known for its cryptocurrency wallet and its institutional custody technology solution Ledger Vault.
Investment house CoinShares is a cryptocurrency asset manager, whose solutions provide exchange-traded products and trackers of cryptocurrencies.
