CICRA appoints new NED

John CurranThe Channel Islands Competition and Regulatory Authorities (CICRA) has appointed John Curran as a Non-Executive Director. 

He will replace Philip Marsden, who has completed his term of office, having served on the board of CICRA since September 2010.
 
John is a former Chief Executive of CICRA and led the merger of the Guernsey and Jersey regulators in 2010. He was Director General of the Guernsey Office of Utility Regulation from January 2005, before being asked to also lead the Jersey Competition Regulatory Authority in 2010. 

He is currently a Non-Executive Director of the Channel Islands Financial Ombudsman and of the Guernsey Data Protection Authority. He is also a non-voting member of the States of Guernsey Transport Licensing Authority and a Chairman of Guernsey Mind.

Before moving full time to Guernsey in 2003, John worked with Australian telecoms provider Telstra. Prior to this he worked for the Irish telecoms regulator, Comreg, where he was involved with the introduction of competition to the communications market there.
