Carey Olsen appoints head of litigation in the Cayman Islands

Carey Olsen has further strengthened its position as a global legal firm with the appointment of Michael Makridakis as partner and head of litigation in the firm's Cayman Islands office.

He will assume responsibility for developing the firm's litigation practice in the jurisdiction and specialises in insolvency, restructuring and commercial litigation with an emphasis on litigation involving distressed funds.

Mr Makridakis' appointment brings the partner numbers for Carey Olsen in the Cayman Islands to five with five associates.

He moved to the Cayman Islands in 2007 and since then has worked for two other leading offshore law firms in the jurisdiction. Before moving to the Cayman Islands he worked for Clayton Utz and Mallesons Stephen Jaques (now King & Wood Mallesons) in Australia.
