Following the success of our inaugural City Edition last year, Businesslife’s 2019 City Edition is now available online.
This special annual issue highlights the vision, intellect and expertise that businesses across the Channel Islands have to offer and the strong ties they hold with the City.
Eila Madden, Editor-in-Chief of Businesslife, says: “Our 2019 City Edition comes at a time of great uncertainty for London-based colleagues, and the UK as a whole, as the journey towards a post-Brexit Britain continues. Of course, in times of uncertainty, you want strong and dependable friends by your side – a role that the Channel Islands are ideally placed to fulfil.”
In a joint comment piece, Dominic Wheatley and Joe Moynihan – the CEOs of Guernsey Finance and Jersey Finance – outline why this is the case: stable government; a highly skilled and experienced workforce; a strong and independent judiciary; and regulatory frameworks that have won the approval of the EU and the FBI.
Elsewhere in this issue, we look at:
• Latest developments in the move towards public registers of company ownership
• Why Guernsey’s market in insurance-linked securities is thriving
• What private equity sees in the offshore fiduciary sector
• How the Channel Islands are becoming home to a growing number of high-profile property investments
• Why Guernsey has become a jurisdiction of choice for businesses in distress
• Whether Jersey’s and Guernsey’s test bed environments can help them win the digital innovation race.
We also speak to Andrew McLaughlin, CEO of RBS International, and Andrew Rosindell MP, Chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Channel Islands, for two very opposing views on Brexit.
