BL launches inaugural Jersey Private Client Conference

Posted: 28/11/2016

BLPrivateClientConfBL Events has announced the schedule for its first-ever Jersey Private Client Conference.

The event – A Brave New World – is produced in partnership with Zedra, and is sponsored by Benest Corbett Renouf and Optimus Group.

It will take place from 9am-3.15pm on Thursday 25 May 2017 at the Royal Yacht in St Helier.

The conference will bring together leading practitioners from Jersey and beyond to discuss the challenges, opportunities and issues that are dominating the private client space right now.

On launching the conference, Carl Methven, CEO of BL Events, commented: “For the past three years, we have run our popular Jersey Trusts Conference. Last year, we ran a very successful family office event. This Private Client Conference seems like a really natural development, and we are looking forward to it immensely.”

This inaugural event will comprise a variety of sessions and panels covering a wide-ranging number of subjects, as follows:

The new face of the private client Jersey is doing business with HNWIs and families from a broad range of geographies, all of whom have varied needs and requirements. With the very nature of ‘family’ and the private client changing day-by-day, how must Jersey adapt and innovate in order to stay relevant?
Alternative investments An examination of alternative asset classes and how they can be used in client portfolios – with a focus on P2P and crowdfunding/lending.
High-net-worth divorce It may be a headline-grabbing subject, but divorce can be incredibly messy when wealth is involved. How are practitioners on both sides working to protect their clients/ensure that a fair settlement is achieved?
Review The latest issues in the areas of trusts, taxation and regulation, including changes to the law both in Jersey and beyond.
Technology … and how the Jersey private client industry needs to adapt and innovate if it is to stay competitive in the global market. Indeed, exactly how should trust/private client practitioners be using technology most effectively?
Philanthropy What are the trends in this area, and how is philanthropy breaking new ground? Is impact investing the prevalent trend, and what about philanthropy on a smaller scale?
Looking ahead As the world changes, what are the challenges and opportunities in the private client space? Where is the competition coming from, where are the biggest opportunities likely to emerge, and what does Jersey need to do in order to capitalise on them?

“We’ve worked with our partners, Zedra, to develop what we think is a really fascinating set of sessions,” says Carl Methven. “We’re already lining up some incredible speakers, and will be releasing their names in due course.”

An early bird delegate rate of £245 is available until 31 December, when the price will rise to £295. Discounts are available on multiple bookings. Five hours of CPD are also available.

A booking form and more information on the schedule can be found on the dedicated website www.jerseyprivateclient.com – or by emailing Carl Methven at events@blglobal.co.uk.

Tickets are also available through Eventbrite.
