Aurigny appoints new Non-Exec Directors to the Board

Chairman of the board, Paul Fairclough, welcomed Mr St Pier, Mr Darby and Mr Richards and also thanked outgoing non-executive director, John Stares, for his valuable contributions to the business.

‘Over the years we have been incredibly lucky to attract the services of leading businessmen like John and now Gavin, Mark and Michael have come on board to help build on what is a well-respected local company. The airline business is multi-faceted and at the mercy of so many factors from oil prices to the weather and even Icelandic volcanoes, but the principles behind good management do not change, which is why we are here more than 40 years on with the support of our board,' said Mr Fairclough.

Mr St Pier, who is a chartered accountant (FCA), has been a partner with two Big Four firms, KPMG and Deloitte, before becoming deputy chief executive of Walbrook Group following a management buyout. He has experience of holding both executive and non-executive positions. Mr St. Pier said: ‘I am delighted to have the opportunity to join such an iconic brand which plays such an important role in so many islanders' lives, not least in preserving the islands' lifeline links.'

Mr Richards, FCA, is an experienced director in both executive and non-executive roles in fully listed PLCs and private companies. He also has 10 years' energy sector executive experience having been initially finance director and subsequently chief executive for the International Energy Group Limited (IEG), which owned and operated fully-integrated gas companies in the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man installed, owned and operated natural gas mains in the UK and large LPG metered estates in Portugal. Since his retirement from IEG, Mr Richards has maintained links with the company acting as a management consultant.

Mr Darby has 30 years' experience in the aviation industry and is currently chief executive of Flybaboo (Baboo), a regional airline based in Geneva that is undergoing major restructuring. Prior to this role, he was chief executive of Caribbean airline, LIAT. Having started his career as an aircraft engineer, Mr Darby moved on to aviation management consultancy holding senior positions with a number of leading consultancy firms specialising in airline and air transportation.
