Ardent Chambers appoints consultant Barristers

Collingwood ThompsonArdent Chambers has extended its ability to work on international litigation and regulatory cases by appointing four Barristers as consultants.

Collingwood Thompson, Nichola Higgins, David O’Mahony and Edward Sawyer have extensive experience in international and offshore finance litigation, representing all sides in trust disputes, criminal and civil fraud, money laundering, probate and estate and regulatory matters.

Collingwood (pictured), Head of Chambers at 7 Bedford Row, has specialised in civil and criminal fraud since taking silk in 1998. He has prosecuted for all the main agencies and advised the Attorney General of Jersey on fraud-related investigations, as well as defending clients charged on major fraud prosecutions instituted by these agencies.

Nichola HigginsNichola Higgins (pictured) of Doughty Street Chambers has an in-depth knowledge of corporate crime and regulation, having defended, investigated and prosecuted complex allegations of corruption and fraud. She advises companies on their compliance procedures and has experience of advising on the ‘adequate procedures’ defence under the Bribery Act 2010. 

Edward Sawyer (Wilberforce Chambers) handles litigation and advisory work across commercial chancery cases, often with an international or offshore element. He has particular experience in trust disputes, probate and succession, pensions and civil fraud. 

David O’Mahony (7 Bedford Row) has been instructed in a variety of cases in Jersey over the past 15 years, including constructive trust proceedings and financial crime and regulatory cases. He recently acted for the UK government in the European Court of Human Rights on behalf of Jersey.
