Appleby, the largest offshore legal, fiduciary and administration services provider, continues to strengthen its standing in Jersey as reflected in the latest Chambers UK 2013 Guide.

Appleby's Dispute Resolution team in Jersey has retained its band 1 position, with the guide noting its “multi-jurisdictional reach” and “sparkling talent, professionally organised business, and sound advice delivered promptly.” Appleby's Group Managing Partner, Michael O'Connell was recognised as a “senior statesman,” a new category introduced in this edition which refers to a lawyer who, by virtue of close links with major clients, is pivotal to a firm's success. In addition, the guide acknowledged four other Appleby lawyers as leading individuals in the dispute resolution field.

Further success was achieved by the Corporate & Finance team in Jersey, who moved up one place to band 2. The guide noted Appleby's “excellent ability to handle complicated transactions,” and made reference to the team's work advising Fitness First on its floatation on the Singapore Stock Exchange. Mark Lewis, Practice Head of the Corporate and Commercial department and Andrew Weaver, team leader of the firm's Funds and Investment Services team in Jersey also strengthened their positions, moving up to band 2.

David Benest (pictured), Managing Partner of Appleby's Jersey office said “We are very proud to be consistently recognised by Chambers for our work. We strive to deliver consistently high levels of service and expertise to our clients across our core practice groups and these rankings further reinforce our market leading position.”
