Appleby is pleased to announce the formation of a dedicated Regulatory Advice Team. The team provides advice to local and international clients on regulatory and investigatory matters in Jersey.

Commenting on the development Mark Lewis (pictured), Partner at Appleby said “Appleby has always offered regulatory advice and has substantial expertise in investigatory matters. We now have a large number of lawyers across our practice with ability to advise in this area and it made sense to bring them together to form a dedicated team”. Mark continued, “Recent developments internationally and domestically have brought about significant changes, not only in the financial services sector, but across the whole spectrum of industries operating in Jersey. Competition and data protection law affects all businesses and recent changes to gaming rules offer new opportunities”.

Appleby has in depth knowledge in these areas and has been involved in some of the most high profile and complex regulatory cases that the Island has seen in recent years. We can also draw on our experience of dealing with other regulators across the offshore world.

Appleby's regulatory advice team will offer professional services with respect to regulatory frameworks including financial services, anti-money laundering, e-gaming, data protection and competition laws.

David Benest, Managing Partner of Appleby, Jersey commented: “This is exciting progress for Appleby and a chance to add real value to our commercial clients. Jersey is well regarded globally and is arguably the premier offshore financial jurisdiction with sound regulation at the heart of this reputation. To flourish in this complex environment, it is important that all businesses are able to manage the legal, commercial and reputational risks associated with such a robust regulatory framework.”
