Jersey law firm Viberts has promoted Advocate Alexander English to Associate.
Alexander is a Court Advocate and experienced lawyer with over 12 years’ experience. He has previously worked for Bedell Cristin, and spent four years working for Her Majesty’s Attorney-General. He qualified as an Advocate of the Royal Court in November 2012 and was called to the Jersey Bar in January 2013, joining Viberts in February of that year.
Alexander’s principal areas of expertise are in private family law, children’s public law and criminal law. In the seminal family law case of Y v Z [2014]JRC055A, he successfully appealed a decision of the Family Court. In doing so, Alexander changed the law, with the result that the functioning of the Family Court was revolutionised for the better.
