Active Group opens new regulatory consultancy office in Cyprus

Financial Services support specialist the Active Group has extended the jurisdictions in which it operates to include Cyprus with effect from 1st September 2013.

Following the successful development of its Malta office, which was opened two years ago and now employs four staff locally, the decision was made to add Cyprus to the territories covered.

“When establishing our Malta office in August 2011 we regarded this at the time as a natural extension to the support services the Active Group already provides within other key international financial jurisdictions. We now feel that the extension of our regulatory support services (initially) to the Cyprus market is a natural next step in our development” said Brian Horsepool, Chief Executive and partner of Active Group Limited (pictured).

The new Cyprus office is based in Nicosia and headed by Mr Sevak Hawarian, who joins Active from a similar role in a local support services company.

“We are delighted that Sevak has joined our team of professionals at the outset and will support our development in the island. Sevak will work closely with colleagues in the other jurisdictions, particularly for various clients who have or are considering wider representation in other jurisdictions where Active is located. The recent problems in the local Cyprus economy perhaps disguise to a great extent the continuing development of Cyprus as an international finance centre, and Active is well placed to assist regulated firms currently in the jurisdiction or looking to establish themselves there”.
